Xbox 360 Production: One Million Per Month
By Rob Gordon That's a whole lot of Xbox 360s Remember when Xbox 360s were a rare sight, and a visit to the local Circuit City involved a post-apocalyptic battle to death in order to ensnare one? It appears those days are over. Xbox 360s are abundant now, and according to Taipei manufacturer Wistron, that abundance is here to stay. Wistron announced today that they plan to churn out one million Xbox 360s per month by the end of the year. And don't forget, Wistron is just one of three manufacturers for the Microsoft next-gen console, so there's going to be much more than a million produced a monthly basis. Sony has already stated that they intend to ship 1,000,000 PS3s globally starting with the November release date, so Microsoft's announcement probably has something to do with that. After all, if PS3s wind up as scarce as they're expected to be, Microsoft sure wouldn't mind picking up some of that extra slack. Being the first next-gen console out of the gate certainly has some advantages.
